how long does it take to design a website?
BySo I hired an intern from college and is currently designing my website. It has been 6 weeks and he had only finished 2 pages of website. I was wondering if this is normal and that it really takes this long to complete a website?

That is terribly slow.
It could be this person is learning as they go. It could be they are just goofing around or surfing the web a lot. It could be that you keep asking for minor changes, and they just aren’t organized enough to keep track and help you see how that is slowing them down. It could be any number of reasons.
But that is WAY too long for 2 pages.

It depends on what kind of website you make, what contents it contains and how much effort you put forth into it.
6 weeks is a lot, but I suppose it’s reasonable. It takes me about 3 to 4 weeks to make a simple graphics website.

6 weeks seems like quite some time. My websites take me 3 weeks max but thats just for HTML. If he’s doing lots of PHP coding it could take longer.

If your friend is serious about being a good web designer, get this book – it is amazing, it got me up and running in no time. It shows you how to build web sites the way the professionals do it. Can’t recommend it enough!
