How much should I charge to design a website…

By Sally Homemaker

For a real estate company? Just basic so far with detailed pictures and contact info. And does anyone have any suggestions of what web hosting service I should use? For instance yahoo, go daddy, Lycos, etc.? Which one gives the best for your money? I have a degree in web design but I do layout & design for a magazine so I’m kinda in refresher mode right now.

I am also a web designer, on my website is a list of the hosts that I recommend to clients. They all have cpanel/fantastico so that is often a huge timesaver. Real-estate companies will often pay big money for virtual tours. Find a tutorial if you are not familiar

There are two basic ways to charge.
1. By the hours worked.
2. By the page.

If there is going to be only a couple of pages then you should charge by the hour because you will make more money. But if there are lots of pages the you should charge by the page because once the theme is don’t all you have to do is plug in the content.

For example if you charge 14 dollars an hour and all you have to do is 30 mins of adding content you only make 7 bucks but if you charge by the page of 28 dollars you just made 28 dollars for 30 mins of work.

For hosting I would use hostgator.com. They are a good hosting company and you don’t have as many limitations as godaddy and others.
