How to create a website design?
ByHello! How would i be able to produce a website such as this? http://www.eclecticeccentricity.bigcartel.com/
Would they have got a website designer to do it for them and would i be able to create something similar to this using HTML codes? I currently use weebly which enables you to use your own website template, but, i wouldn’t know how to start on building it!

That website is actually easier to build that it would seem
To get a website like that, you need to know HTML and CSS. They’re both simple to learn if you haven’t done so already, and if you are interested in building websites I would recommend learning them.
Personally, I believe if you want a great website, start with notepad (or a similar program) on your computer. It brings a much more satisfying feel when you can make it completely yourself.
In the meantime, you can search for templates like this by typing ‘Free CSS templates’ into your favorite search engine.

Forget about HTML.
Use wordpress, it has anything webmaster need.
Go to youtube and type: wordpress tutorial.

Well, of course a webdesigner made it! But not to scare you off most webdesigners are self-taught.
To make this site with all it offers I would say you would need much more than html. I can see traces of Javascript in the source code and there is probably some flash included and there is some design done in GIMP/Photoshop(the logo and flowers on the left).
Thing is, at the moment, if you don’t know anything about webdesign you can’t make it. But follow the link I spewcified in my sources and – by my experience, believe me, if you apply yourself, learn, develop and don’t give up you’ll be as good as a pro – because all pros are people at heart. =)

It was probably done by a website designer. You could try and create your own website but it might be difficult unless you’re prepared to learn as much as you can about HTML and website design.
You might find it interesting and enjoyable to make your own website.
If it is too difficult for you then there are plenty of website designers who will do it for you.
Make sure you pick a reputable web designer and don’t let them charge you a lot of money.

That website is a fairly simple one so I would hope that the site owner will have wriiten it personally. If you learn some html and css, you can write websites offline for free using simple microsoft notepad. Then all you have to do is buy a domain name (couple of quid), some hosting (the same a month), and upload the site using free ftp software such as filezilla. Avoid using free sites as they don’t attract visitors, and ignore plain stupid advice such as forgetting html and using wordpress. If you learn to write your own code and some search engine optimisation, then you can get your page to site on the first page of google search results, meaning a lot of people will find your site. You could build something like that without any experience with Ultimate Web Builder – http://www.redesigns.org/web-builder . It is very easy to use.

wordpress is a blog. it is NOT going to give you e-commeerce ability. for that you should probably
- go to e-commerce hosting and make sure your site passes PCI Compliance, if that is required in your country
- try a business CMS that comes with site design services like http://yola.com however, yola.com I think may be USA only. check with them to make sure (who knows). they are going to use professional-looking stock images on your site design. they also take care of the e-commerce portion which can be a pain, at least in the USA. yola uses HP for its web design. they make very professional-looking business CMS stuff. and it costs $349, $49/year total which is /really/ inexpensive – good deal!
you want to use professional images. that means for products, you are going to want to use one of the portable camera studios/light boxes. I like white ones better. goes with a white site background best.
if you are not wanting e-commerce, yola.com also does non-ecommerce stuff, and they have free sites as well (not free domains).
I am not an expert with e-commerce hosting, expecially in the UK. things are different over there.

I think that the website is most likely custom designed, and you would definitely need to have some sort of website design knowledge including a bit of coding in order to do this (Photoshop, Dreamweaver). Aside from hiring a website designer (which could often be expensive), the alternative is to learn how to do it yourself.
However, there is one other alternative, which is purchase a website template that is compatible with Weebly. There is a template provider called DivTag that has some pre-made Weebly compatible templates that you may find interesting, at a very reasonable price (not hundreds or thousands that a professional designer will charge you). They’re less than $30, and are very professional looking and you still retain all the basic features and functionalities of Weebly that you may love. Also some very interesting plugin’s that look like Flash, which many people didn’t think was possible with Weebly.
They also have free tutorials for people on basic design tips in Weebly.
