I bought a domain name and hosting from godaddy, but now how do I design the website for the domain for free?

By Sally Homemaker

I don’t want to use their design service, because it is expensive. How do I design a page and upload it to the domain?

You can create it by learning basic html or using a free program like Pagebreeze, and then upload it using another free program called Filezilla.

There are tons of services that offer free web hosting. Google Apps will do it for free with certain restrictions, as will Microsoft Small Business. Just go to Google and search for "free web hosting," and choose one that lets you use your current domain. You don’t really "upload" anything to your domain. You create a website on your new host, and then enter a CNAME record in GoDaddy to direct users to your new host. The downside of free hosting is that sometimes you get what you pay for, but they are out there if you really want it for free.

There are many people that create websites for people for free, I do but their purely graphiclike
this http://www.decayingmind.webs.com/layout.png this is uncoded , but their are sites that have templates you can use. Just google FREE WEBSITE TEMPLATES or FREE HQ LAYOUTS

Use website tonight to build the website….try this site http://www.thewebpole.com/ to get the website tonight and also get the domain name register, domain appraisal, online file folder, ssl certificate etc…

I would use wordpress, you will have huge collections of free themes.

Wp also enables you to change the layout if you want to.

You could try smallbusiness.officelive.com – you can re-direct/forward your existing domain from godaddy.com and use the templates/tools. There is information on how to do this on the FAQ site and the pricing will go over how much storage is and what other free/paid features you can choose from.

Go Daddy have a web builder add-on called ‘website tonight’ that you could use, they sometimes include it for free.
Otherwise you are going to need a WYSIWYG editor and ‘FTP’ your files across to your hosting account. I use Dreamweaver, but it will be expensive to buy the latest (legitimate) version – I found a good one called Kompozer – it is similar to Dreamweaver, but free…
You may also need a good graphics program, try ‘gimpshop’ (again it’s free), and ‘Filezilla’ will carry out the FTP for you – try it…it’s free!!!
